Reverse Machine Applique is a technique I learned when I took a class with Anna Marie Horner. This technique gives your applique a different dimension than regular machine applique that is quite pretty! It also is a great way to use some of those decorative stitches we have on our machines.
Supply List -
Pattern - Folk Flower Quilt by Anna Marie Horner
2-3 Fat Quarters for backgrounds.
3-5 Fat Quarters for flowers and leaves.
2-3 Fat Quarters for stems OR 1/3 yard of one fabric for stems
Sewing Machine in good working order. Please bring a 1/4" piecing foot and a clear applique foot if you have one.
Basic sewing supplies - pins, fabric scissors, seam ripper, etc.
Several spools of thread in colors that will coordinate with your fabric choices.
Fabric marking pens or pencils or chalk - whatever will show up on your chosen fabrics.
1/2 yard of Stitch and Tear stabilizer
Rotary cutter, mat and ruler
Recommended but not required -
Glue Pen
12-1/2" square ruler, or larger square
Best Press in a spray bottle
There are paper templates in the pattern we can use, however, if you are feeling fancy, the In Bloom Acrylic Template Set has the exact
shapes we need, as well as others, and it makes our work a lot easier!
